Spinal Tumour and Its Diagnosis

چکیده
In India all types of nervous disease exist, but very few spinal tumours are reported. This does not mean that the incidence of spinal tumours in this country is a rare phenomenon. The diagnosis of a spinal tumour is made by the clinical symptoms of (1) the root cycle usually unilateral; (2) the Brown-Sequard syndrome; (3) the compression paraplegia, and by special clinical tests such as lumbar puncture with biochemical test of the cerebro-spinal fluid, and by special types of lumbar puncture such as Quickenstedt's and Ayer's and cisterna puncture with the injection of lipiodol and radiography to localize the tumour.

Metastatic spinal cord compression: diagnosis and management.
Between five and 10 in every 200 patients with terminal cancer will have metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC) within their last two years of life. It is an oncological emergency. 2 MSCC is caused by compression of the dural sac and its contents (spinal cord or cauda equina) by an extradural or intradural mass, and it leads to irreversible neurological damage such as paraplegia or tetrapleg...

Bone wax is primarily used in case of bleeding of the diploic vessels of the bones in surgical procedures. It is useful in neurosurgical procedures because of its inert, nonreactive characteristics. Bone wax is safe material and its use rarely leads to complications but there may be complications of over use. It can cause direct pressure of neural tissue as a mass, simulating tumour with the sy...

Objective(s):Spinal cord injury (SCI) often causes serious and irreversible neurological deficit leading to disability or impairment of normal physical activity. Atomoxetine, a selective norepinephrine transporter (NET) inhibitor has gained much attention in the field of the neurodevelopmental disorder, but its effect on SCI has not been evaluated. The present study has been undertaken to inves...

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses a constant magnetic field and radio waves, a non-invasive method for examining tissues, organs and the skeletal system. Advantages and disadvantages of MRI are not fully understood; however, it has been commonly used in the diagnosis of skeleton and bone diseases (such as disk and spinal disorders, joint disorders (arthritis), bone tumours and tissues...
متن کاملA Rare Extradural Mass: Primary Cervical Spinal Melanoma With Radiologic Findings
Melanocytic cells are normally found in the meninges of the central nervous system (CNS). Primary tumour derived from meningeal melanocytic cells is rare. In this case report, a patient with primary spinal malignant melanoma localized in the cervical region was presented. Clinical features of this case including the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings were described and its differential d...
